Thousands flocked to the annual Ice Cream Day in Iceland on Saturday, where a standout attraction was the salmon-flavored special edition.
The festival, hosted by Icelandic ice cream producer Kjörís, attracted a crowd of 20,000 visitors, who consumed some 200,000 servings in total, according to the frozen dairy company.
Held in conjunction with the town’s Blómstrandi Daga festival, this marks the 15th year of the event.
As the gates opened in the morning, eager ice cream enthusiasts quickly filled the grounds, ready to sample the variety of flavors on offer, including dried fish and mustard.
Kjörís uses this day to get to know the country’s preferences. While it is safe to say the salmon flavour was something of an acquired taste, the trial Biscoff variety was so popular, the company expects to introduce it soon.
