Salmon truck driver killed in crash with wife and three-year-old daughter on board

Truck overturned on road. Father and daughter died at scene of accident.

Cooperativa reports that a driver died with his daughter and his wife after his truck overturned on the winding Route 215 in Osorno, in the Los Lagos Region of southern Chile.

The truck overturned killing driver Rodrigo Julian Valdivia Serrano with his family on board. It was loaded with salmon loaded from Punta Arenas, Magallanes (southern Chile) and was bound for the island of Chiloé.

Serrano and his three-year-old daughter died at the scene. Authorities said that the woman was transferred in serious condition to a hospital, however, due to the severity of her injuries she died at 2:00 p.m. hours, after cardiac arrest.

Police captain Germán Ramírez confirmed the deaths to the publication: “At about 11 in the morning on route CH215, there was a traffic accident, consisting of the overturning of a truck carrying salmon.”

An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.
