Peter Reidie is new boss replacing Volker Kuntzsch, who left in September.

NZ Herald reports that the former chief executive of Farmlands Cooperative Society Peter Reidie is the new boss of New Zealand’s oldest and largest seafood company Sanford.

Reidie was also managing director for Australia and New Zealand at the food company Goodman Fielder.

“Sanford is a great business. Its people are highly engaged and motivated and I can’t wait to join them in 2021. I have fresh perspectives to bring to Sanford and I am clear on my mission. I welcome the challenge of navigating the business and its people through the current volatile conditions while working towards a long-term vision to grow sustainable shareholder returns,” said Reidie.

Chief Executive Volker Kuntzsch resigned in September after seven years of leading the company. Under his watch, the company looked increasingly to farm more salmon.
