Gigante Salmon completes second production basin, on track for Q2 harvest.

Norwegian land-based salmon producer Gigante Salmon has completed construction of the second of three production basins at its facility on Lille Indre Rosøy in Rødøy, Norway, marking a key project milestone as the company continues to progress towards full production capacity.

The company expects to begin harvesting from its pilot production during the second quarter of 2025, with an estimated 550 tonnes HOG (head-on gutted). A gradual ramp-up will follow, with full production capacity of 16,000 tonnes HOG targeted from 2028.

The third and final production basin remains under construction, with the company aiming to reach full operational capability in 2026.

Gigante Salmon’s land-based farming concept is based on a flow-through system, intended to combine elements of conventional and land-based aquaculture while avoiding the biological challenges typically associated with sea-based farming.
