The company Seistar has contracted two new wellboats with designs from Salt Ship Design.

The contract is for one vessel with 2200 m3. Another is for a total of 8000 m3 load capacity in the fish holds, with a deadweight of around 12.000 tonnes, which will make it the world’s largest of its kind.

Seistar already has a fleet of three wellboats and three stun-and-bleed vessels. “The new vessels will supplement new and existing customers with new tonnage to cover the increasing demand for treatment- and transport services, especially related to the post-smolt investment in Western Norway,” Salt Ship Design wrote in a press release.

Both vessels will be built at Cemre Mari̇n Endüstri̇ shipyard in Turkey, and will be delivered from the yard in 2022/2023.

The parties have collaborated for a long time to develop the well boat designs based on gentle and efficient fish handling in combination with a strong focus on hygiene, environment and quality. The vessels have several new and exciting design solutions including batteries as energy storage and circular fish tanks.

“In addition to design-development, Salt will deliver a complete engineering package to Cemre. This is, therefore, a very important contract, which adds to an order book of 19 vessel designs under construction globally,” Salt Ship Design added.
