Authorities at odds with numbers.
Sernapesca are worried about the official figures given by salmon farmer Vestisqueros and are currently analysing the results, according to comments in biobiochile.cl.
In late December a storm caused damages to cages at one of their sites causing an escape. In January the company confirmed that number to be estimated 26,830 fish.
Sernapesca told the publication they have seen discrepancies with the figures that Ventisqueros delivered in a report.
Eduardo Aguilera, regional director of Sernapesca, told the publication that numbers delivered by the company have “generated concern” and have requested clarifications from the company.
Sernapesca is expected later this week to deliver its final number of escaped salmon.
