Sitka Salmon Shares appoints science and policy director

Biologist Michael Kohan leaves ASMI (Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute).

Michael Kohan writes on LinkedIn that she has left the role at the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute to start a new job as science and policy director with Sitka Salmon Shares.

Sitka Salmon Shares is a company that works by bringing wild-caught Alaskan salmon straight to customers. People can buy a “share” of the catch of the company collective, which made up of local salmon fishermen.

Previously Kohan was seafood technical director for the ASMI, the US state’s official seafood marketing arm. Before that, she was wildlife biologist for Alaska’s Department of Fish and Game.
