Aquaculture technology and service provider Smir Group has announced the acquisition of the Ørland-based tech company Ambiente Aqua.
The deal includes the transfer of all rights related to the company’s technology.
Frank Øren, group chief executive of Smir Group, highlighted the strategic importance of the acquisition, stating: “We have been working closely on two key projects involving UV-LED technology, and we see this technology as an exciting area for Smir Group. Ambiente’s technology aligns perfectly with our objectives, which led to our decision to acquire the company.”
Founded in 2021, Ambiente Aqua specializes in the development of lighting and energy systems, with a particular focus on UV-LED lighting.
The acquisition is part of Smir Group’s ongoing efforts to develop preventive solutions for the aquaculture industry, where UV-LED technology is seen as having significant potential.
Earlier this year, Smir Group also acquired the service and diving company KB in Rørvik.
