The exporters report that there is more than enough fish for everyone and that the price drop is significant.
“Already on Monday, the price began to fall and it has fallen all week. It is the same in all weight classes. We talk almost ten kroner (EUR 1) down on everything compared to last week,” said one exporter SalmonBusiness talked to.
“It’s a very difficult market right now. We sell much less now than we did at the same time last year. It is clearly the buyer’s and not the seller’s market today, and there is more than enough fish for everyone. I have to say it the way it is,” he added.

Another exporter also reports that the fall is significant.
“We’ve noticed the same thing. Prices are a lot down, there is a lot of fish, especially from two to six kilos. We talk at least 6-7 kroner down in price. Airfreight, 6+, is still a bit of its own market,” he said.
“I haven’t put myself so much into the market today, but it certainly fell sharply. It’s serious for a lot of people,” said a smoker.
SalmonBusiness’ industrial sources outline the following farm gate price level to be delivered next week: for the most traded weight classes:
- 3-4 kilos NOK 52-54 (EUR 5.4 – EUR 5.6)
- 4-5 kilos NOK 55-56 (EUR 5.7 – EUR 5.8)
- 5-6 kilos NOK 57-58 (EUR 5.9 – EUR 6)
- 6+ kilos NOK 62-64 (EUR 6.4 -EUR 6.6)
