The availability of the Canadian salmon farming company is reported to be attracting a great deal of interest.

Yesterday it became known that Northern Harvest Sea Farms and its distribution company North Coast Seafoods are up for sale.

Undercurrentnews refers to four independent sources claiming that Norwegian DNB Markets is overseeing the sales process.

The neighboring company Cooke Aquaculture, Canada’s biggest salmon farmer by far, is obviously interested if Northern Harvest Sea Farms is to be sold.

Not surprisingly, large Norwegian farmers, such as Marine Harvest, Leroy, Cermaq and Grieg Seafood, are also mentioned.

Communications Manager at Marine Harvest, Ola Helge Hjetland, told Norwegian newspaper E24 that they never comment on this type of rumor. Neither have Leroy, Cermaq or Grieg commented on the subject.

According to sources, the company is valued at over $400m.
