The European industrial gas company Praxair has been acquired by the Japanese giant, Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corporation (TNSC). Praxair Norway will change its name to Nippon Gases Norway in early 2019.

Nippon Gases Europe will retain all assets, employees and management. The company supplies gas and technology to the aquaculture industry in Norway, such as providing oxygen to smolt sites.

Nippon Gases Europe operates in most countries in Europe, with around 2,600 employees and more than 100,000 customers. The company is involved in industries such as health care, food, manufacturing, metallurgy, chemical products, electronics and energy.

“TNSC already has a very strong position in Japan, Southeast Asia and the United States. With the acquisition of our business, one of the leading industrial gas companies in Europe, the TNSC Group is also one of the largest industrial gas companies globally. The TNSC Group’s investments in Europe mark the start of a journey in Europe, where the group is looking forward to further growth,” said Eduardo Gil, Managing Director of Nippon Gases Europe.

Managing Director of Praxair Norway, Sigurd Haukeli, said he is looking forward to continuing the operation of a company that has strong commitments in safety, compliance and environment.
