Offence took place at AquaChile site in 2019.

El Divisadero reports that a criminal court in Chile has sentenced two men to three years in jail for participating in a failed salmon heist.

Three other men have been sentenced seven hundred days in prison.

The offense took place in 2019 when the offenders boarded the vessel “Don Patricio”, which was then intercepted off the coast of Quellón, Southern Chile, by Chilean Navy personnel.

The criminals were seized before they could make off with AquaChile’s salmon. At the time, it was reported that authorities had seized 25 tonnes of salmon.

Police had been monitoring the suspects for a month before they made the arrests.
