The industry exported a record USD 4.1 billion worth of salmon last year.
IndexSalmon delivered to AQUA its latest report on exports of salmon produced in Chile from the period January-November 2018.
The publication reported that the US ( 156.3 thousand tonnes, up 21.5% from last year) is still the country’s most important customer, following by Japan (116.6 thousand tonnes, up 19% from last year). Exports to emerging markets in Russia (59.7 thousand tonnes) and China (38.8 thousand tonnes) also doubled in size.
Cermaq Chile topped the export list at 65.9 thousand tonnes followed by Empresas AquaChile (55.7 thousand tonnes) and Multiexport Foods (44.2 thousand tonnes).
The year ended with a 9.2% in reduction in price per kilo – from USD 9.07 in 2015 to USD 8.24.
