Danish shipbuilder Tuco Marine has delivered a 15-meter “ProZero” research workboat to Nord University, Norway, marking an enhancement to the university’s marine research capabilities.

Following comprehensive tests at the Tuco ProZero Workboats facility, the vessel was officially transferred to Nord University’s representative, Skipper Morten Krogstad, with Jakob Frost, co-owner of Tuco Marine, presiding over the handover.

The ProZero 15m workboat is a high-spec vessel tailored to the diverse needs of marine research. Built from advanced composite materials, it meets strict maritime standards while maintaining durability in challenging conditions.

The vessel is outfitted with a range of research tools, including cranes and winches, which facilitate critical activities like water and seabed sampling. Safety features such as reinforced fendering enable safe docking, and its interior is optimized for efficient research workflows, allowing Nord University to carry out both student training and extensive field studies.

This addition complements Nord University’s broader strategic investments in marine infrastructure, which include the development of the new “Blått bygg” campus and the recent commissioning of a coastal research vessel. According to Krogstad, the ProZero workboat represents a “significant upgrade” that will support Nord University’s role as a center for marine and fisheries science in Norway.
