Spanish salmon smokers wanted to thank staff during coronavirus.

While most workers are taking a pay cut, Vida Economica reports that Andalusia (southern Spain) Ubago Group Mare is paying its staff more.

The family-run Malagan firm, which supplies smoekd salmon to the supermarket group Mercadano, wanted to thank its staff for their efforts in the face of the health crisis.

Spain is one of the hardest-hit countries and the BBC reports that to date 13,055 have died in total.

The bonus payment is a reward for hard work during the coronavirus and will continue for the duration of the crisis and is being given to all workers regardless of their position or category, it said.
