Danish grower, Varde Laks, has reported a pre-tax profit of EUR 3.6 million for 2017, as the export-focused company chalked up more smoked salmon and regional specialty, gravlaks.
It’s the best result ever for the company, writes Danish title Food Supply. The company exports 90-percent of its product from Vaarde in on the windy west coast of Denmark.
The result is an increase of EUR 2 million kroner over 2016, or more than 2016 and 2015 combined.
Company leadership said the result was “satisfactory”.
Varde Laks was started in 1987 by Joern and Lisbeth Jakobsen. Since 2005, Thomas Jakobsen has been co-owner.
