At least three injuries.

Petersburg Pilot reports that a Boston Whaler vessel crashed into a Hewescraft on Wednesday.

The incident happened in the Wrangell Narrows, Petersburg, Alaska, in front of Trident Seafoods and OBI Seafoods processing facilities on Wednesday morning.

“They were coming in hot,” said witness Al Domon. “I yelled at him just because there was all these boats in close proximity all around. He was just making a beeline. He never seen [the Hewescraft],” he added.

Two witnesses said they didn’t see anyone get thrown into the water as a result of the incident, but they did see two people who were onboard the Boston Whaler laying on an OBI Seafood dock, waiting for medical attention shortly afterwards. Authorities responded to an OBI Seafood dock after receiving a call.

Three passengers onboard were then transferred to Petersburg Medical Center to receive medical attention.

OBI Seafoods is the new company name for merger comprised of two of Alaska’s largest seafood producers, Ocean Beauty Seafoods and Icicle Seafoods. The two have united their wild salmon operations and Gulf of Alaska groundfish operations since June last year.
