Viral disease ISA suspected at site with 890,000 salmon

New outbreak of infectious salmon anaemia (ISA) suspicion in Iceland.

There is a suspected outbreak of the viral disease ISA at Ice Fish Farm’s site in Hamraborg, Iceland, according to a stock exchange announcement from the company on Friday.

The site consists of approximately 890,000 salmon with an average weight of 2,137 kg.

“The consequences of the disease are difficult to estimate now, but will probably reduce the expected harvest volume in 2022 and 2023,” the report states.

On 23 May, SalmonBusiness reported ISA had been detected at another fish farming company, Laxar, at its Vattarnes site. There are 1.1 million fish in this location.
