Woman transferred to hospital following ammonia leak at salmon plant

200 workers evacuated.

On Monday morning, 200 workers of the Salmones Aysén plant, in Puerto Montt, Chile, were evacuated following an ammonia leak. One woman was transferred to hospital with symptoms of poisoning following the incident.

The Puerto Montt Fire Department attended the scene of the accident to secure the area and carry out preliminary investigations, reports news service Soychile.

A second plant, owned by Cermaq, was also affected by the same problem, requiring further evacuations at around 01:30 in the morning.
