Aquaculture vessel sinks in connection with a mooring operation off the island of Gjerdinga, Trøndelag, Central Norway at 10 am on Monday. All three who were on board are in a good condition.
“We think first of all about those who were on board the boat. Such an accident is of course a dramatic event, and we are incredibly pleased that they are all in good condition,” SalmoNor’s Torry Moe said in a press release. SalmoNor is a medium-sized salmon farmer.
The accident occurred in connection with a mooring operation carried out by an external company at SalmoNor’s fish farm. Personnel connected to nearby vessels to the fish farm quickly took care of the employees who were on board the passenger boat that sank.
Authorities have been notified.
“We are now talking to everyone who was present to get full clarity of what has happened and take care of those involved as best as possible. It is too early to say anything about the course of events,” said Moe.
Those involved have had routine medical checks and the health service has been contacted for a debrief of the incident.
SalmoNor will ensure the salvage of the aquaculture boat as soon as possible.
