A man, hired from an employment agency to work Mowi’s salmon processing facility at Ulvan on Hitra, Central Norway, died on Tuesday after cardiac arrest.

“A hired colleague at Ulvan from DB Partner suffered an early cardiac arrest when he changed to work clothes at the facility,” confirmed communications manager Eivind Nævdal-Bolstad to SalmonBusiness.

According to Nævdal-Bolstad, a resuscitation effort was immediately initiated.

“This was carried out until paramedics arrived at the factory,” said Nævdal-Bolstad.

However, the worker did not survive and after 50 minutes the paramedics had to give up, according to local newspaper Hitra-Frøya, which first reported the case.

“This is incredibly sad, and we are doing what we can to support colleagues and relatives in this matter,” said Nævdal-Bolstad.
