Worker dies at Young’s factory in Grimsby

Long-serving worker died on site.

A worker at Grimsby’s Young’s Seafood died suddenly while working at the Humberstone Road factory on Tuesday, reports The Grimsby Telegraph.

The emergency services were called to the factory on Humberstone Road at around 12.51pm yesterday. The family have been informed of the man’s death, which is not being treated as suspicious.

A paramedic, two ambulances and the air ambulance were called to the scene, with the helicopter landing in the middle of Hardy’s Recreation Ground.

A Young’s Seafood spokesperson told the publication: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm the passing of one of our long-serving colleagues at work today. We have worked with the authorities and the next of kin have been informed. Any employees affected by this news are encouraged to speak with their HR manager.”

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said yesterday: “Officers and ambulance crews attended a report that a man had suddenly died at Young’s Seafood on Humberstone Road in Grimsby around 1.30pm today. We are not treating the man’s death as suspicious. His family have been informed and we will be working with the coroner to prepare a file for them.”
