Laxar announce new CEO

Takes over from former boss Sigurðsson who resigned last year Icelandic salmon farmer.

Laxar has hired Jens Garðar Helgason as the company’s CEO and will start on the 1st of February.

Jens Garðar was CEO for Icelandic exporter Fiskimið from 2002 until 2018. He is the Chairman of Fisheries Iceland and has been in the foundation since 2014. Garðar studied Business at the University of Iceland and has an MBA in Seafood Management from the Norwegian School of Economics.

Laxar operates three land facilities in the south of Iceland, as well as sea sites in Reyðarfjörður, in the east of Iceland. Its headquarters are in Reykjavik.

In 2018, Sigurðsson stepped down as CEO citing personal reasons.
